Odebrecht S.A. announced this Tuesday (27) the hiring of João Pinheiro Batista Nogueira to serve on its Board of Directors. He is the fifth independent board member.
João’s arrival will reinforce and contribute to the Odebrecht Group’s strategy. João holds a B.A. in Economics from the Pontifical Catholic University of Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) and an MBA in Economic Engineering from Gama Filho University. He has served for over ten years on the boards of directors of various companies in Brazil.
At the Odebrecht Group, he is an independent member of the boards of directors of Odebrecht Engineering & Construction since June 2017 and of Ocyan since April 2018, from which he will step down in January 2019 to dedicate himself exclusively to the board of directors of Odebrecht S.A.
He also is a member of the boards of directors of Light, Swiss Re Corporate Solutions Brasil, Evoltz Transmission and the Adolescent Recycling Institute. As an executive, he served as CEO of Swiss Re, Bertin S.A. and Suzano Petroquímica, and held executive positions in companies such as Petrobras, Dresdner Bank, Citibank, Radiobrás and Siderbras.
